jkkmobile just wrote that it's going to be updated with an ugraded 1.2Ghz CPU. So an Atom Z515. This seems to be much better with hyperthreading and an even lower power consumption (1.4W instead of 2W according to wikipedia)

The ATOM processor is NOT powerful enough to do iTunes you Chode, this is just a netbook with out a keyboard.
IT DOES VIDEO FINE in other formats, but APPLE's iTunes h.264 codec needs power to decode. My Dell Mini10v can do it, but it takes a few seconds/minutes to run smooth... That and I need to be sure that iTunes is the only process running.
So dont FLAME A PRODUCT that YOU DONT KNOW WHAT IT'S INTENDED PURPOSE IS.

And dont use all caps, it's rude. I mean why are you YELLING AT US?

I PURCHASED THIS PRODUCT AND RETURNED IT THE NEXT DAY WHEN I FOUND IT TO BE EXTREMELY SLOW! IT TOOK FOR EVER TO BOOT WINDOWS 7 STARTER EDITION. AFTER IT FINALLY DID THE WEB BROWSER WAS VERY SLOW TO BOOT AS WELL..... I INSTALLED THE CHROME BROWSER AND IT DID A LITTLE BETTER. THEN I INSTALLED ITUNES(AS MY MEDIA IS ALL IN ITUNES AND IT COULD NOT HANDLE PLAYING THE VIDEOS...... WHEN I TRIED TO RESTART OF SHUT DOWN A WINDOW WOULD COME UP SAYING IT COULD NOT END BACKGROUND!!!!!!! WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!!!! NEEDLESS TO SAY I CALL SUPPORT TO RETURN THE PRODUCT AND THEY STUCK ME WITH A 15% RESTOCKING FEE!!!!!!! I HAD THE PRODUCT FOR ONE DAY!!!!!! THEY SHOULD POST THESE CONDITIONS ON THEIR WEBSITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with everything you've said there. Nice showcase of sizing with the Intel Menlow platform but they didn't build the correct CPU/SSD into the product. A small upgrade to 1.3/1.6Ghz and a fast SSD would really fix most issues. WIndows 7 home premium would enhance the experience too.

Had it for a little while. Just sent it back today. I love the form factor of it but everything else is useless. The Hard drive is very slow and 1GB of Ram is simply not enough. The tablet is very slow and I find it freezing while I'm using just Skype and IE. The windows 7 starter doesn't include tablet tools so you would need to pay $80.00 to upgrade it so add that to the cost. The lack of multi touch was known but still extremely dissapointing and I found that the screen would stop responding to touches at times and I had to move the mouse with the optical moust before I could touch the screen again. Just wait many better tablets are coming out.

Had the Archos 9 for a week now. i am sending back as it just does not live up to my expectations.

The device is quite well built and is a nice weight to use but its performance is very poor on things like you tube video or any online video to be truthful. The 60gb HDD is very slow and has only about 25gb free after O/S and rescue files. The drive seems to be busy all the time and very rarely goes idle and the single core z processor is always under load (normally between 40 - 90% ) and that makes doing anything on the device a slow experience.

To be fair, web browsing is ok once the browser is up and running but anything else is just frustrating. Battery life seems ok but you cant switch off just bluetooth or wireless both are on or off.

All in all the Archos just aint good enough yet and ram or hdd to ssd upgrade is not possible.

Please try the ink on this when you get it: I am really hoping this will work for me as an electronic notepad using onenote but I need to know that the screen will work well with a stylus and not be confused by my palm resting on the screen. I have always used active digitisers before which work a treat (e.g. motion slates). Also if you can dispel the rumour that this version of windows 7 doesn't have the pen input panel and handwriting recognition - although I will probably install the full w7 if I get it. Finally - I want it to work in portrait mode - presumably this is possible?

Hi, so been so excited about this product, size of screen, thin (as in just the LCD part of my TX2).

Disappointment for me is the screen, it's resistive not capacitive. This is the only thing keeping me away from purchasing this slick looking "netbook touchscreen". Asus T91/101 or Viliv S10 it is, unless Archos surprises us with a multi-touch version.

there seems to be a problem with your database. It ranks this thing as a 100 and it ranks the HP mini 110 as a 1, while the HP mini is clearly better than this thing.

You can now pre-order the archos 9 directly from archos as of today at http://store.archos.com/A9.... . I ordered one, but I hope I don't regret it. The only archos product I've ever tried was their TV+ which is terrible and gets worse every time they do an update. (In fact, the most recent update broke windows networking completely...lame). Still, a tablet in this form factor will be perfect for my usage scenario as long as it works. Lets hope for the best.

hey chippy. archos is not a good company because i owned an archos 5 and archos 5 with android but it always crashed. customer service sucks, you have to wait a long long time to get connected with them. do you think its safe to buy this archos 9?? because i have viliv x70 and im really really happy with it. what do you think chippy? because i know you owned an archos 5 with android right?
